Paediatric Physiotherapy in Maylands

Care to help your child move and develop optimally

Paediatric physiotherapy focuses on the function of muscles, joints, nerves and movement patterns that influence how your child grows and develops.

Whether you've noticed a developmental concern, your GP has flagged something, or your child is simply in pain. Kaitlin provides a thorough, gentle assessment and a clear plan forward. We take the time to listen to both you and your child, explain everything clearly, and involve your family every step of the way.

Our approach is personalised, play-based where appropriate, individualised and grounded in current evidence so your child isn't just treated, they're empowered to move with confidence.

We collaborate with multiple different allied health providers, paediatricians, GPs and specialists to ensure our care is comprehensive and in the best interest of your child’s health and wellbeing

Why Paediatric Physiotherapy is Different

Children's bodies aren't simply smaller versions of adult bodies they're constantly growing, developing and changing. That means their muscles, bones and nervous systems have very different needs, and treatment needs to reflect that.

Kaitlin brings specialist knowledge of paediatric development to every appointment, using techniques specifically suited to where your child is at whether that's a newborn, a toddler taking their first steps, or a teenager managing a sports injury.

Why early intervention matters

Children's physiotherapy isn't just about treating what's already causing a problem. It's about spotting things early before they become bigger issues.

Whether it's a motor delay, a muscular imbalance or a posture concern that's crept in at school, early support can make a significant difference. Addressing these things at the right time helps your child reach their developmental milestones, move well, and build a strong foundation for lifelong physical health.

MHH Paediatric Physio — 08 FAQ

Your Questions, Answered

1 At what age can my child see a physiotherapist?
We see children from birth through to 18 years. Newborn assessments for flat head, torticollis and feeding posture are among our most common early appointments.
2 Do I need a referral to book?
No referral is required for a private appointment. A GP referral is needed only if you wish to access Medicare-subsidised sessions under the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. Contact us and we can guide you through the process.
3 How many sessions will my child need?
This varies depending on the condition and your child's goals. Kaitlin will discuss a clear, realistic plan with you after the first appointment so you always know what to expect.
4 Can I stay in the room during my child's appointment?
Absolutely — we encourage it. Parent involvement is an important part of paediatric physiotherapy. We'll also give you clear guidance on how to support your child's progress at home.
5 Do you see NDIS participants?
Yes. We currently accept NDIS self-managed and plan-managed participants (Please contact us to see if we are suitable for you). We are not registered for agency-managed funding at this stage. If you'd like a list of our recommended NDIA providers, feel free to send us an email and we'll be happy to help point you in the right direction.
